GOP Wants Obama to Prove He’s Serious about Cutting Budget

Thursday, February 04, 2010
By Staff, Associated Press

Washington (AP) - House Republicans are asking President Barack Obama to work with them to cancel already-in-place spending programs.

Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio and Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia sent a letter to the White House on Thursday asking Obama to invoke a provision that lets lawmakers cut money included in past budgets. The White House didn't have immediate comment.

Cantor, the No. 3 House Republican, says Obama has the ability to prove he's serious about cutting the budget.

He's looking for cover at the Republicans expense. Don't fall for it - it's a trap. wink.gif

To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it. -- Margaret Thatcher

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

I concur. As Rush said today, when your enemies are in the process of committing political suicide, just step aside and don't get in their way.

I place my trust in God, gold, guts and guns... everything else is suspect!

"Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens." --Joseph Story

Hope springs eternal, even in our darkest hours... "We should never despair, our Situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times." ---George Washington

The heart of racism is ignorance. The power of racism is government. The solution to racism is the United States Constitution. I believe that revolution looms in the shadows should the light of non-violent resistance fail. Once oppressed to the point where one must fight for his God-given freedom or submit to slavery, his courage and character grow immensely. We cannot and shall not fail to resore this nation and save the Consitution. --Desert Yankee
